Moab Womens Clinic
The Moab Women’s Clinic is for women who want to build new skills in one of the most beautiful climbing destinations on earth.
You might be transitioning from indoor climbing to outdoor climbing, or you may want to learn more technical skills for multi-pitch climbing situations. Whether you are at the beginning or the middle of your climbing journey, this clinic will give you an opportunity to learn and practice in a small group environment.
We’ll visit several of Moab's most classic climbing areas during the clinic. You’ll get to face climb on different types and angles of desert sandstone, and also learn the foundations of crack technique with practice time on crack routes.

In addition to hands-on climbing practice, we'll spend time on the ground taking a deep dive into rope skills and safety skills. You’ll learn and practice simple sequences for threading anchors and setting rappels, and fundamental habits to maximize safety on your climbs. You’ll also get to practice anchor building one-on-one in a safe environment with personal instruction.
Our goal is to give you the tools you need to feel safe and confident climbing outside with your partners, whether they are less or more experienced than you are.

The Clinic takes place Sunday evening through Tuesday evening, in order to get the best conditions at the most classic Moab climbing areas. We meet up on Sunday evening in Moab for a picnic dinner the night before the clinic, to get to know each other. On Monday and Tuesday, we'll meet up each morning at the Moonflower Market, the locals' favorite natural food store and deli, and then head out for the day. A group dinner is provided on Monday night.
All of our time will be spent in and around Moab, so you can have the option to camp out or to opt for a stay in town. The group will be introduced via email in the months before the clinic to allow for the chance to make travel plans together, to set up camping or lodging together or to meet up for climbing before and after the clinic. You’ll go home with a group of new climbing friends too!

"I loved being around strong, empowered, badass, sexy climber gals! It was super inspiring talking to Mary about her experience in male dominated work force and how she doesn't let it get to her. I constantly struggle with being the "girl" climber out of my friends and feeling like I must overcompensate to prove that I have the right to be there, climbing. It's so silly. So it was just refreshing being around ladies who kick ass! The most useful thing I learned was about climbing and belaying specific to my body size. A lot of people who have tried to "teach" me things are tall, heavy men.... i am none of those things and therefore getting a man's "beta" or them teaching me to belay is irrelevant and unhelpful. I learned good tips about how to catch falls with a lead climber heavier than me. I'm still bragging to all my friends about how great this weekend was. Thanks so much again!"
