We Do Love Yosemite, Though it Can Be Trying

A lot of climbers kind of thrive on the weird cartoon war that has always gone on between climbers and Yosemite rangers, for some reason. When I’m in Moab, I do all the exact same things I do in Yosemite (climb, walk around with my dog, eat, sleep, go to the Post Office, do laundry), but in Moab I’m an upstanding citizen, and in Yosemite I’m a renegade. Honestly, it’s kind of annoying. So Yosemite doesn’t quite do it for me. Yeah, it’s beautiful and the greatest climbing in the world, and it has El Cap, I know, I know. The thing is, I personally know people who have been thrown face down on the parking lot and tossed in jail because they were eating. Food. I can state confidently that this has NEVER happened in Moab.
Still, for some reason, I always end up back there…..
I know it’s a magic place, even though I know it only from climbing movies.. Hope will have a chance to climb El Cap one day…
Ahhhh the trials of the ditch….you should come HOME!!!
