- Simple Living Climb Vegan
Hi Steph,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the great inspiration you’ve been to me in my climbing. I got a copy of your book a while ago and didn’t want it to end! I was so excited to read that you’re working on another book now. Reading about your journey to finding your true passion of climbing (and BASE jumping/wingsuit flying) was very enlightening and helped me realize that I don’t have to go along with the college crowd and get a degree just because I’m supposed to… what’s the point if I’m not going to enjoy it.
Like you, I’m a dedicated vegan and an adamant believer that you can more healthily nourish your body by eating a plant based diet. I love reading your views on the topic, and it’s great to have an instant reply whenever anyone asks, “how do you climb if you’re vegan?” I instantly point to your amazing accomplishments. I also want to let you know that I wrote a post featuring you on my blog if you are interested in reading it: http://sendfood.wordpress.com/2010/11/04/ascent/.
Thanks again for all of the inspiration. Keep on being as amazing as you are!
Jodye
Thanks Jodye!
I’m glad to hear that you are having similar, great experiences with the vegan lifestyle!
And thanks for your nice words… 🙂
🙂 Steph
I’ve spent quite a bit of time thinking about going vegan myself and through my own research have actually found that while eating vegan can be very healthy, it has been scientifically proven untrue that it is more healthy than eating a mixed plant and animal diet. In all effect eating entirely vegan or even vegetarian much less efficient means for the human body to gaining the nourishment it needs.
As Steph said, it’s a lifestyle. A choice more than anything. If going vegan or vegetarian is the kind of diet that you need to follow in order to eat more healthy then I think it’s a good choice. But, I think that people should know that you don’t have to give up animal products in order to have a healthy diet. You just have to make good food choices.
Thank you Steph, from italy! 🙂 I am vegan too, and you know what the people think about it.. In my indoor gym when someone ask me “So you are vegan?? And how you can climb?!? You need animal protein..!” .. So I indicate a poster on the wall of a girl that is climbing an hard slot.. And i say: “She’s Steph Davis, she’s vegan!!” And the people couldn’t belive it..! So thanks a lot for let my social athlet’s life easier!
Sorry for my italian english anyway..!
