Facing Fears

Hi Steph,
My name is Miakoda. I got your email address from your high infatuation site and I wanted to write you in recognition of your courageous spirit and utter committment to freedom. I started climbing a year and a half ago despite being totally afraid of heights. I have pushed myself further than I have ever thought I was capable and have found so many blessings, insights, thrills and joy from this amazing way of experiencing the earth.

Facing fears is one of the biggest things that drives me in my life. I want to know freedom in its entirety and you are certainly an inspiration to this vision! I imagine you receive many letters from people you may not know, so I feel presumptuous even writing this email to you! So, in know way do I feel like I “know” you simply from reading your writings or watching some of your climbs and jumps. But I wanted to say just from one person to another, that I deeply appreciate the gentle and courageous way you seem to carry yourself and the vision of your life. It is very inspiring and I am so glad that I have a resource through your writings and pictures that helps me with my climbing adventures and to continue pushing my own limits and experiencing the ultimate of this incredible world. Also, as a woman, it is fantastic to watch your wildness!
Thank you for all that you share with us and continue to stay wild and free.
Be well,
Miakoda

PS- here is a great quote that I found (author- I do not know)
“Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.”

Dear Miakoda,
Thanks for writing to me, and for the beautiful quote.
All the best for the years of freedom ahead!!!
xxSteph
