Sprinter: Mercedes vs. Dodge vs. Freightliner?

Hi Steph,
I’m in a similar situation with buying a used van for a reasonable price. I’ve done a ton of research and it’s so hard to decide or find a sprinter for a reasonable price. I come from motocross where a lot of theses vans were converted so motocross riders could stay overnight in there vans and not have their bikes stolen. My girl friend and I have been looking into one for a good year. I know a sprinter is for me, but I’m also scared of having to pay $25,000 plus for a decent van. I wanted to reach out to see if you had any advice for finding a sprinter in good condition for under $22,000? Is it better to go with the Dodge Sprinter vs the Mercedes? Or is there a difference. Really hoping to make this happen so we can enjoy traveling and some awesome camping trips.
Thanks for your time Steph,
AJ

Hi AJ,
I also was puzzled about the difference between the Sprinter brands when looking at used vans. Most people told me it’s exactly the same vehicle with a different logo on it. Here’s a link to a forum thread that explains why.

I haven’t been shopping for a van since I got mine a few years back, but I’ve been hearing more and more people talk about finding decent deals on low mileage vehicles that are even converted already. I’m wondering if the popularity of these vans and #vanliving is leading to more availability now in the used market, and causing it to become more of a buyer’s than a seller’s market finally? I would definitely take your time and shop around to see what’s out there!

I haven’t regretted my van purchase for a single minute, and it has made traveling so much easier and more fun for my little family. I think if you get a vehicle that fits your budget, you’ll end up being really glad you did it.
Steph
