Utah Skydiving Questions
Hello,
I have always thought of wingsuit dives. I would like to ask you, Are you an instructor at any skydiving school? What are the initial steps for me who has never skydived before
Is wingsuit dive from the airplane more exciting than a wingsuit basejump?
I live in Utah, It was very nice to know that you have chosen Moab to be your home town.
One more question?Who started rock climbing, skydiving first? You or your Brother?
Thanks
ShahidHey Steph,
My name is Josh and I was wondering how one gets involved into flying wingsuits? I just searched on google and got you blog so you’re the lucky one that came up first haha I’m from Utah and have zero idea about how to get started, where to purchase them/rent them…etc Any advice you could offer would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much!
Best wishes,
Josh
Hi Shahid and Josh,
The season is starting for skydiving in Utah. There are two great drop zones around Salt Lake, Skydive Ogden and Skydive the Wasatch near Provo. There is also my home drop zone, Skydive Moab.
You will need to go through AFF training and then do 200 skydives to start jumping a wingsuit. I think both DZs are opening this weekend, so you could start right now if you wanted! A lot of people start by doing a tandem jump, and then if they like it, start the AFF course. By the time you’ve done 200 jumps, you will be really familiar with the sport and will probably have found a used wingsuit you want to start jumping with.
My brother and I started rock climbing at the same time, by a total coincidence. I was in school at U of Maryland, and he was starting his pre-med school in Missouri. He started skydiving a year before me, and we started base jumping at about the same time.
Have fun!
Steph
