Moab and Guiding
Hi Steph,
My name is Matt, I’m Director of Technology at a school here in PA.
I’ve gone bungee jumping and skydiving before, but have never really rock climbed.
Do you ever instruct people or take anybody with you on some of your adventures?
Are you single? I would think any guy would want to ask this… of course it’s none of my business.
You’re an amazing individual, be safe out there.
Thanks,
Matt
Hi Matt,
Thanks for writing!
I have recently found myself, not through any conscious decision I must admit, starting up a little bit of guiding in Moab again :). I did some guided ascents of Castleton Tower to raise money for Layton Kor, and also to keep a promise I made to a British soldier stationed in Afghanistan, and I remembered how much I enjoy doing some occasional guiding in the desert. I’ve also been doing some climbing clinics in gyms while presenting my new film at festivals, and I’ve been really liking that too. It’s fun to see how excited people get to learn gear tricks and secrets, and crack technique. So it inspired me to start offering special guiding experiences on the towers in Moab, and also at Indian Creek. I also plan to organize some crack climbing clinics in Indian Creek, with the first one happening next fall.
I work with two good friends who have guided in Moab for many years, for people who’d like to go out with a great climbing guide in the desert, rather than specifically climbing with me. If you have any questions about climbing with us:
And I just got married last November 🙂
