Loving Life!

Hiya Steph!

Just a happy note to you from a fellow simple-living human who finds nature and the outdoors not to be something I love dearly, but foundationally indispensable to my own existence. I grow to love rock climbing more as time passes and also require that reflective time and “awareness training” while my fingers touch granite, limestone, or sandstone. I’m so grateful for this wonderful life, and looks like you can say the same?

I came across HIGH INFATUATION about 2 years ago, and I think I was sold because of “Fletch’s” picture on the cover! Well, it was the neatest book I could read at that time of my life, living in remote Alaska, where so many of your quotes and stories rippled in my own mind and experiences (not that I have any free ascents, but I can climb a 5.5 as ferociously as Mark Twight can some obscure peak in France. LOL). Reading the book helped me tune up my own self image, re-commit to goals I set, and contribute more to others while on Life’s Journey. I was filled with gratitude after reading the book.

I don’t find your life fascinating because you’re a climber, a protector of all creatures great and small, a base jumper, a writer, but because you’re just YOU! Your own special greatness and uniqueness is something you selflessly share with the world! It’s so satisfying to know that others are out there just LIVING for themselves with no comparing, no bowing to the Ego, nothing to prove but just greatness to give! I absolutely love my life which is filled with adventure and I adore my friends, and it’s so awesome to read about others who live appreciate existing and contributing what they can, too! Your photos, articles and kooky posts you share on Facebook, really does impact my life in a good way! No foolin’!

I carefully read your book for the second time, and pulled even more lessons from it. Something which was monumental in my reading of HIGH INFATUATION was that I recognized my driving need of “uncertainty,” I’m not saying that’s bad, but I am definitely more aware of it and what decisions I make because of that need; it’s what enriches my life. I think many of us tend to gravitate towards being comfortable and the fear of change that we forget how fun, rewarding and magnificent it is to be daring and throw ourselves into the uncertain. It doesn’t have to stop as we age either.

Thank you for just being you, Steph, and for daring to be extraordinary.

~ Bliss to you and your friends! ~
