Dear Ms. Davis,
I recently purchased a copy of your book, High Infatuation, a first edition no less, and am enjoying the read. I know nothing about mountain climbing, have trouble standing on an extension ladder for any extended period of time, but I have always been fascinated with people who pursue this activity. I enjoy your philosophical thoughts and queries and the photographs are spectacular and breathtaking.
The only thing you and I have in common is dogs. I also have a cattle dog, a red heeler named Emma who is a wonderful companion and a real joy. She is four years old, I acquired her from a rescue organization in Georgia, where I live, and she has brought a new meaning into my experience of dog ownership. Every day I learn something new from her and I can’t imagine living without her. They are really a very special breed. I am sure she and Fletcher could exchange a few canine observations about us humans. I have always had dogs and Emma is something else.
I am about halfway through your book at this time and I am savoring reading it. I could have polished it off in one sitting but I don’t want the experience to end too quickly. I only wish there were color photographs. I have never traveled out west and have always wanted to experience it firsthand.
Please keep writing and sharing your experiences with your armchair freeclimbers.
