Greetings from France

Hi Steph,
I have just finished to read a french translation of your book High Infatuation, my Christmas present, and I would like to thank you for writing that book, for your life-experience, for what you are and what you have done! And your courage to share it in such a frank way. It is one of the most amazing books about climbing and alpinisms and together with Lionel Terray’s (Conquรฉrants de l’inutile) and Walter Bonnatti’s (Montagnes d’une vie) will be my favourite ๐Ÿ˜‰

Actually, we have met twice during my two climbing trips in US. The first time, it was on Ancient Arts in Fisher’s towers when you were with Peter Mortimer filming a commercial in 2011 and the second on Mose’s tower when you were climbing with Mario in 2012.

Funny thing on Mose’s was that you hiked there when we were already on the first pitch, so we could not see you, but we could hear you and I recognised your voice when chatting. Moreover, you wore the same t-shirt like the last year! It is pity that we did not meet on the summit, we were down by then. I send you two photos we took on that occasions: you with Peter and Mario base-jumping from Mose’s tower.

When my boyfriend presented me your book with words “a book written by your friend”, I was exalted ๐Ÿ˜‰ And now I am looking forward to read your next book (in English ๐Ÿ˜‰ And no one knows, perhaps we will meet again on my next trip to US the next spring?

All the best!
Marianna Jagercikova (Slovak living in France)

Hi Marianna,
Thanks for writing to me, and for the great photos. I remember you and both of those days very well. It sounds like I need to get a new t-shirt though ๐Ÿ™‚
And I hope you like Learning to Fly as well (sorry it is not translated into French).
๐Ÿ™‚ Steph
