Good Climbing Tunes

Hi Steph!

I have been climbing for about nine months now and I think its safe to say…I’m addicted! I starting climbing back in NY (my home state) but I have continued my love for this sport out in Boulder. I’m an English major (senior) now and my plan is to move back to NY and work for a publication I have been interning with for five summers. Although this is my goal and career expectation, its definitely tempting to stay in Boulder, climb, and enjoy the great outdoors. I guess I am facing somewhat of a conundrum! My good friend from back home gave me your book High Infatuation to read and I was beyond inspired and intrigued with what you had to say!

Random question before I conclude this email–what is your favorite music to listen to while you climb? I have started listening to tunes while I climb, and I’m looking for some fresh music to jam to!

Take care,
Lauren

Hi Lauren,
I hope you can find the best solution–finding the right balance between what you want to do and where you want to be can be really hard. It’s also pretty hard to go back once you’ve lived in a place like Boulder. Still, if you are excited about the work and it’s even in a place you also like, I think good opportunities shouldn’t be passed by. It’s just as important to be fired up about what you are doing as it is to live in a place you enjoy being in, and it sounds like you know that 🙂

I’m always on the lookout for good new music too. I always find myself listening to MC Solaar, which isn’t new, but I really like him–especially Chapitre 7. The bestkept secret I have is a site called Buzzoutroom–you need to be able to stream, so anytime you’re in wifi range, it’s great.
Steph
