steph love the pics from your house mine is about the same size you keep yours alot cleaner-i tried using small campers 8×11 – ones i have used are to heavy need to big a rig to pull them- your system is really minimalist-do not know if i can go that light-looking at building a teardrop trailer light-small-any car or truck could pull it–i wonder if a crew cab ranger might work?????i will keep working on it— saw a lady up in ely mn living in her subaru pretty tight-had a canoe and toploading storage deal–great sight–good luck tv

Hi TV,
I don’t know, minimalist is the way to go, if you ask me. Less is more! I love my truck setup so much…the only thing I might like as much/more would be one of those little Transit Connect vans. But those don’t have 4WD, so would not be so good for me 30% of the time.

I’m still waiting for those car companies to make a car I can sleep in, has 4WD and gets a minimum of 40 miles to the gallon. I cannot understand what the hold up is.

Toyota makes a hybrid minivan with AWD that gets 47 mpg. Only problem is that it’s not available in the US. Maybe you can check one out when you’re in Japan?

    Steph,

    Everything old is new again.

I’ve been looking at these recently. They are called “Syncros” This one gets 30 using diesel, has *amazing* 4wd with locking differentials (better than the Ford Ranger). Also a decoupler to make it 2wd when you don’t need 4wd.
There are others like it advertised here:

This is what they can do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX1iiqgkILQ

    Thanks Laurel and Greg!
Maybe I can get a van in Japan so small I can bring it home as a carry-on…
