Crack Climbing Clinics
Dear Steph, you are and have been a GREAT inspiration for me. I just watched ‘just another Moab morning’ dvd on I LOVE CLIMBING on facebook, its just soooooo relaxing…… yet scary at the same time J. YOU ROCK !!!!!!!!!!! The intent of my email is that, I am wondering if you are doing any ‘crack climbing clinics’ in Indian creek. I am from the island of Cyprus and used to live in Utah for a few years. I miss the desert like I can’t even describe. The red sandstone of Moab and Utah is just in my mind all the time. The desert is calling me.
I hope to hear back from you on this.
Hugs,
Nazo

Dear Nazo,
I understand….I am away from Moab right now, and it is the most beautiful, magical place in the world (I think). I like your idea about crack climbing clinics…I think it could be fun! It is definitely an interesting idea to think about. It would depend on whether other people would like to do this, and I would be curious to know if others would want to do some clinics (in the good season, like the fall and spring).
So tell me what you all think, and maybe we can come up with a plan.
Steph
Count me in for any crack climbing clinics with you, Steph. Keep us posted ;-}
I did something similar called “Splitter Camp” which a Moab guide service offers twice a year. They’ve had dwindling participant numbers since the economy tanked, but it was a really great and instructive experience.
And Steph, with your didactic skills (as shown in the articles on the website and in Climbing, which I read beforehand and which were super helpful) I could easily see myself joining a clinic that you run, too.
Just let me know when and where and I would show up!
Steph
I have thought about attending one of the “splitter camps” in the past… and I’m sure there are some folks, especially some female climbers who would love to hang out with you at the Creek for a few days. Of course, how much you need to earn and how much folks can afford to pay are the unknowns in the equation.
I’ve been out of climbing for the past couple years, but when I think about Moab and the Creek, it really makes me want to get back in the game.
Cool blog, love your vimeo videos. Keep being you, and we’ll keep being inspired.

I would be interested! I’ve never been to Indian Creek but it looks amazing…
Thanks for the feedback everyone, and from those on twitter too! I will keep you posted if this becomes a plan.
I’d definitely be interested if you could also offer intermediate clinics. I’ve climbed some at the Creek and I can crack climb a bit. I’m interested in becoming more economical and efficient. Plus, I find some sizes difficult (#1s, #5s for instance)–I could definitely use some pointers.
Thanks, and those are great ideas. I am considering doing some clinics, probably next year. So I will keep you all posted when I start getting things put together…
Steph
I would also be interested in a clinic if you hosted it. Please keep me posted too.
A crack climbing clinic with you would be amazing – I´d even travel to the US for this!
Thanks! I will keep you posted if I can find the right time to schedule it!
Any updates on a possible crack clinic? My husband and I would be highly interested!
I’m laying plans right now: it will be either the last weekend of September or first weekend of October, and I’ll post about it soon 🙂
