Steph,
I want to start by saying thank you for putting together your book. I am just now finishing it and I have loved every moment of it. I am your average Joe, intermediate climber who loves climbing for what it is and where it takes me. It is wonderful to see that professional athletes, like yourself, still feel that same love that I do, perhaps even more so. I want to let you know that you have inspired me…and I don’t usually get inspired from other people. You have inspired me, not because of the climbs you have done, but in the manner you have conducted your life. You are a free spirit and you seem to be doing what you truly love.
I am stuck in an office cubical 8 hours a day in SLC, spending most of that time dreaming of climbing in some far distant place or perhaps living out of my car with my wife and two dogs (a packed car that is). Maybe one day my wife and I (she got me into climbing much like you did in college) will take a break from the rat race to pursue what really inspires us, climbing and traveling for an extended period of time. Thank you for your contributions to the climbing community and I truly wish you the best.

Thank you so much for all your kind words! For me, climbing is the greatest part of my life, and the opportunity to share that with others, and then to be included in their experience of climbing, means the world to me. I am honored to be part of your community, and so glad you enjoyed my book.
Thrillingly enough for me, my brother is moving to Salt Lake this spring to work at the University ER! Since I am always traveling up from Moab recently, to skydive in Ogden, BASE jump in Twin Falls, Idaho, and skate ski at Solitude (or else traveling somewhere else to jump with my brother and sister-in-law) I can’t think of a better place to have them. And now we are all Utahns! 🙂
