Hello From Switzerland

Dear Steph,

We meet Friday before last in Friedrichshafen, Germany during the Outdoor expo. You signed a book for me and later on you, Dean an myself had a chat while you were eating swiss hash browns called “Rösti”. You might remember…

Well, I promised to give you some feedback about your book. Alright here we go. I’ll try to find the right words…

It started when I saw you at Outdoor exhibit selling books. As I am always interested in books, where people tell exiting and unusual stories from their life I thought to buy a copy. My interest increased as I saw Dean slacklining and I sorted out that you two somehow belong together. I saw him in Huber-Brother-Movie about one week ago. To my shame I did not know who both of you really are and what strings to the climbing world you have….thus the silly question “have you ever been climbing at El Cap”….. I am Sorry.

Well, I bought a book and enjoyed the rest of the day at the expo and went home starting to read it. It was my lecture for the next couple of days. I was looking forward every evening to dive into your world of climbing, adventure, joy, challenge and freedom. The book was not only a loose set of exiting stories and entertainment to me. While reading I started to compare it with my life, my achievements, my dreams, my desires, etc. On one side it was an alarm bell for me to level things out in my life on the other side it was also a confirmation that I am on the right path…

It was exciting and thrilling to read what adventures you underwent. I was also impressend by the literary work you did. The diction is very well choosen. No choppy phrases but a round work. CONGRATULATIONS!

Steph, I thank you for sharing so many aspects of your life in “High Infatuation”. I am not only impressed by your climbing achievements but also by your mindset and your way of life!

Best whishes from the Swiss Mountains (also to Dean)
Thomas

PS1: Me and my partner Simone will be travelling to the southwestern US in October/November this year. We plan to go hiking in Yosemite, Brice Canyon and Moab area. We both are really looking forward to this trip….It would be nice if our pathes would crossing again.

PS2: Since I am not a native english speaker I hope I’ve found the right words and even more important you understand what I wanted to say 🙂

Dear Thomas,
I definitely understand, and thank you so much. I think our paths will definitely be crossing again….let me know when you will be in Moab this October. And your English is perfect, by the way. If only I could speak any German, beyond Rosti! But maybe that’s all I need to know…..
xx Steph

    Dear Steph,
Thank you for your answer! I’ve just read your blog article about climbing near “Voralpsee” and “Rätikon”. We live about 20miles away from “Voralpsee”… funny coincidence :-). I will let you know, when we will be in Moab this October.
    Best whishes
