Truck Tips

Hey there Steph!
College student here!

I recently got my hands on a Ranger with a Leer cap on it and built a full length platform, like you said, it is horrible! I plan to soon change to the shelf set up you mentioned and i was wondering if you could maybe send me some pictures of your set up.

I’m not a climber, but an avid camper/kayaker/biker, AND a dog lover.

I’m trying to get some tips for cheap truck living so i can get out there more. Is there any advice for meals you can offer? Or any advice at all for that matter?

Have you ever had any leaks with your canopy?

Thanks for reading!

Hi Henry!
Here is a link to a post I wrote a while ago, with a photo of my set up.

I have had leaks, but only with the window when it’s open in the back. I like to sleep with my head towards the tailgate, and I like to keep the window open or just slightly up. If it’s pouring rain, water does come down the edges of the window even if I just have it cracked, which is annoying. I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but I was thinking of taking some liquid nails and a length of L-shaped aluminum and just gluing up a tiny rain-gutter right above the window. I’m pretty sure the water would run along the aluminum and fall off the edges, so I would make it longer than the window length. Since I generally tend to avoid places with a lot of rain, I do keep forgetting to actually do this….
Good luck with your travels!
Steph
