Talking About Healing

Steph,
I’m a long time climber who was recently forced to take several months off for disc surgery. I’ve been struggling with being laid up and inactive for the first time since finding climbing thirteen years ago. I knew ahead of the surgery that I would struggle without friends and climbing but I was not aware of just how hard it was going to be. Trying to cope, I made a trip to the local used book store looking for adventure to fill my time. When I ran across your book “High Infatuation”, I knew it was what I was looking for. What I did not know was how much it has affected me and my recovery.

It may sound cliche, but your down to earth attitude about life and your passion is so refreshing to read. Your quote “In the end, climbing is what I love, my own expression of joy. Everything else is just noise.” struck such a chord with me because it is a feeling about life that I have never been able to put into words. I am now looking at my recovery as part of my climbing journey and as just a piece of my own experience of life and passion for the sport. I think I have just healed ten times faster.
Great book and thank you so much for sharing part of your life with another.
