Hi From Missouri

Hi Steph,
I just wanted to email you and say how impressed I am with your accomplishments. I have been climbing for about seven years now (which it is hard to be a climber in Southeast Missouri, because there is very little rock except across the Mississippi in Southern Illinois and it’s not the beautiful crack climbing that i would love to do) and I had heard of you through the mags and other forms of climbing news, but I had never taken the time to really look into who you were as a climber. I recently bought your book for my girlfriend, who is relatively new to climbing. She has only been climbing with me and I felt like she needed some female inspiration. I saw your book, one of the few climbing books written from the female perspective and I gave it to her for her birthday. Needless to say, she loved it! And once she finished it, I read it. We really enjoyed the randomness of it all, the different stories from Patagonia, Moab, and most of all for me Yosemite. It was such an inspiration to her. She was very scared to push her limits climbing in the gym or outside, but now she really is an entirely different climber. She has even recently started lead climbing, which is really great. Living out of a truck doesn’t sound so bad any more to her and my Ford Ranger has taken on a whole new image, haha. I have been to Utah a couple times and I love it. In fact, I was just there this summer with my family. Delicate Arch was beautiful in the setting sun! (here’s a pic my dad took http://www.flickr.com/photos/serrator/4836353119/in/set-72157624599480942/) Though I have never been to the Creek, I would love to climb there. I have shared with her my experiences with her of Utah and she desperately wants to go. Anyways, i was just wondering if maybe you could send me a signed pic or something, she would love it! (especially one of you at the Creek or perhaps freeing the Salathe wall, i don’t mean to be picky) if you wouldn’t mind, i could even cover the shipping costs. If you have time that would be amazing, i know you are really busy and might not even be able to do this. Maybe you’re even gearing up for a trip to Patagonia this winter? That’d be cool. Anyways, thanks for reading my ramblings.
Drew

Hi Drew,
That is a beautiful shot, with the colors! Of course, I’d be more than happy to send your girlfriend a poster, just email me again with your address. I’m glad you guys are so psyched for climbing!!
🙂 Steph
